grass into food- how why and when

THE STORY OF OUR FARM

first..... preparing the front yard. We started in February, tilled through the hard earth that had been bored with a severe lack of production for way too long!! we picked up some FREE manure from the stapleton urban farms, sand from the Rio Grande Co on Santa Fe, and other prep materials we could scrounge up from around town.

then to preparing seedlings and digging beds..






















Once we turned scrap wood into beautiful home-constructed cold-frames, we planted: Bull nose peppers, sweet chocolate peppers, hot patron and jalapenos, onions, leeks, shallots, broccoli, cauliflower, peas, raddiccio (missing a few?))-- which are all now sprouting up so quick and cute


indoors, in egg cartons, peet pots, and any other forms of containment: tomatoes, basil, sunflowers, lettuce, etc etc


late april--- outside we planted strawberries, raspberries, garlic chives, tarragon, horseradish, and some mystery herbs (got them in a pot from erica's uncle). soon to be planted: our frost-friendly greens, gooseberry, and huckleberries and HERBS. once the last frost is over in mid-may, we can plant many more to come....
